I have a Master of Science degree in Biology from Cleveland State University.  My graduate research in protozoan biochemistry/structure and quaternary ammonia compounds included collaborative efforts with research groups at the University of Massachusetts and the University of Minnesota.  I completed a teaching certification program for degree holders offered by Notre Dame College of Ohio.  I am an honorably discharged veteran of the USAF.

As a trained Medical Technologist/Microbiologist, I worked in and supervised clinical laboratories specializing in microbiology, immunology and special chemistry.  In addition, I taught clinical microbiology in a program training students for a career in clinical science.   My career in science also includes 19 years as the Chief Chemist/Asst. Superintendent of a water treatment plant.  While working at the water plant, I was also an adjunct in the Science/Math Departments of Firelands College (BGSU) and Lorain County Community College.

I thoroughly enjoy working with young people so I came to Sanders in 2011 after taking early retirement and have taught Biology, AP Biology and Honors Chemistry during my time here.  I am also the baseball coach.  My science classes are rigorous but I also work hard to make my students feel welcome in my classroom and that they can succeed if we all work together.

On a personal note, I enjoy bicycling, playing violin, astronomy/exobiology, reading narrative history and science fiction, writing, dogs and baseball.
